21U Team Ontario (Wilcox is front row, second from right)
This past weekend, WMBA alumni Lindsay Wilcox competed for Team Ontario in the 2108 21U Women's Invitational Baseball Championships, held Aug 9-12 in Stonewall, Manitoba. After going 3-1 in preliminary action (including a slim victory over other finalist Team Quebec), the Team Ontario team earned a birth to the final championship game after defeating host Team Manitoba in the bottom of the seventh when Wilcox singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The team had to settle for a silver medal in the final game against a strongTeam Quebec, being defeated 9-1. Congratulations, Lindsay!
After an exhausting weekend, our Minor Bantams were crowned runner-ups in a well-deserved birth in the championship game in their Welland tournament over the weekend. After going 2-0 in early round play on Friday and Saturday against Thorold and Oakville, they earned a bye to continue action on the Sunday. After a blowout win on the Sunday morning against DKMB, they proceeded to earn a come from behind victory in a back and forth affair against the host team. In a day that featured more than 10 hours at the ballpark, after a tight few innings, our Wolves came up short in the end in the championship matchup against an all major Brampton team. Well done Wolves! Congratulations goes out to all players, coaches and families involved!
Congratulations goes out to our 2018 Bantam girls fastball team taking the first place trophy in the championship game of Bantam FMSA playoffs played in Ancaster last night. We are proud of all players coaches and families involved!

We have had another successful season and our wrap-up weekend showed as there were many competitive games! The results for each division were as follows:
Waterdown Division - It was a close one between Rockies and Rangers with the Rangers taking the championship.
Flamborough Division: The Giants took an early lead and held off the Athletics to take first place.
Waterdown Division: In a rematch from the spring tournament, the Athletics came out on top over the Pirates for the championship.
Flamborough Division: It was neck and neck between the Blue Jays and the Yankees with the Blue Jays prevailing in the end.
Mosquito: Due to lightning late afternoon, the game was suspended to be (hopefully) be rescheduled at a later time.
PeeWee: The Giants came out on top over the Yankees.
Congratulations to all participants, and thank you for all the parents/guardians for making this one of our best seasons to date. An extra special shout out to all the volunteer coaches, assistants and all those that made things happen smother than we ever could have expected. Let's hope that next year is just as special! We are always looking for more volunteers in all capacities, so feel free to get in touch with us if you feel the need to help out, as our membership is growing bigger than you can imagine!
Note, we still have ongoing playoff games for our houseleague Bantam and Midget divisions, so good luck to hose involved. Also, don't forget to look out for our ongoing rep team games, and wish those teams success in the upcoming OBA playoffs at the end of August & Labour Day weekend (which the Major C PeeWee tournament will be again hosted by none other than our home team). Keep you eyes glued to our website as we will make announcements sometime in the near future for tryout time slots for 2019 rep teams to be held sometime in September.
Over the past weekend in the unbearable heat, our Moquito Tier 2 Wolves faced all competition heartily in a tournament in Thorold, going undefeated in round robin play. Moving on to Sunday, in the semi final, they mercied their competition but fell to the opposition in the championship matchup. Congratulations to all players, coaches and parents involved for an amazing result!
Congratulations to our very own Rylie Harwood on being selected to join the Team Ontario entry in the 16U Girls National Baseball Championships. She will be heading to Bedford, Nova Scotia to represent a team of 13 to 16 year olds from accross the province to compete against teams from other provinces in the tournament taking place August 21-27, 2018. Rylie, who has played in the WMBA since beginning in blastball and is currently a member of the PeeWee Wolves, is thrilled with the opportunity to play at an elite level, and we wish her the best in her endeavours to make Team Ontario and especially Waterdown proud.
Note: Rylie needs to raise $1000-$1500 before she goes in August, so if any local sponsors are interested in supporting Rylie, please contact Krista Harwood at
